GIFTS IN WILLS

Leaving a legacy for Be Me Project
Thank you for considering leaving a gift to Be Me Project in your will. Any gift – large or small – will help us offer a lifeline to vulnerable and isolated young people struggling with their mental health, who may have no-one else to turn to. Our free-of-charge courses equip them with tools to lower their anxiety and increase their confidence and positivity – improving their education and giving them a brighter future.
We have over a decade of experience of improving young people’s mental health in our communities, and demand for our courses grows every year. Will you partner with us to leave a lasting legacy for future generations?
The difference your gift will make
Our courses can be life-changing for young people like Molly. When Molly was 12 she described school as ‘hell’. Battling personal turmoil, which school intensified, she started skipping classes. She was referred to a Be Me course where she learnt greater confidence and self-acceptance. Her attendance and schoolwork improved dramatically, and in Year 12 Molly returned to us as a young mentor to help us support other girls. Reflecting on the course, Molly said: “I learnt that I’m worth just as much as anyone else. I’m so grateful to Be Me as I now feel so much more comfortable and confident as a person.”

How to leave us a legacy gift
Follow these three simple steps:
1. Consider using a solicitor to help you write or amend your will:
You can find a local solicitor through The Law Society: email www.lawsociety.org.uk; or phone 020 7320 5650. A solicitor can also advise you on Inheritance Tax liability. NB: Gifts to charities in wills are exempt from Inheritance Tax. If you would be liable to pay Inheritance Tax on the remainder of your estate, giving a gift to charity equal to 10% of your net estate could mean that you pay a reduced rate of 36%. If you do not wish to use a solicitor, you can write a simple, legally binding will yourself by purchasing a will-writing kit.
2. Decide what type of gift you would like to leave Be Me Project:
-
a specific amount of money (a ‘pecuniary’ or ‘cash gift’) or
-
a percentage of your estate (a ‘residual gift’).
We would be delighted to receive any type of gift you feel able to leave us. The advantage of a residual gift is that it won’t lose its value over time.
3. Describe the gift in your will:
For a residual gift, you could use the following wording: I leave a [X %] share of my residuary estate for Be Me Project, Front Office, Mayflower Centre, Lyons Court, Dorking, RH4 1AB, registered charity number 1175239, for its general charitable purposes.
For a cash gift, you could use the following wording: I leave [fill in amount] for Be Me Project, Front Office, Mayflower Centre, Lyons Court, Dorking, RH4 1AB, registered charity number 1175239, for its general charitable purposes.
We are so thankful for supporters like you who help vulnerable young people to thrive and reach their potential. Please let us know if you have left us a gift in your will so that we can thank you.
